In latest McLaren-related news, our spy photographers caught on film the so-called “MV103” prototype, expected to morph into the second Sport Series model. In addition to this, the Woking-based automaker celebrated the 5,000th carbon fiber MonoCell built. If that’s not enough going on over at McLaren, we hear a 675LT is preparing for its Geneva debut, 666 HP and the whole nine yards.
With Formula One pre-season testing in full swing and so many to deal with the automaking division, the Macca boys just presented us with a product of the McLaren Special Operations skunkworks. This 650S is codenamed Project Kilo and McLaren describes it as one of the most individualized 650S ever made.

Though only five photographs of Project Kilo were shared on the company’s official Facebook account, it’s easy to tell what details differentiate MSO 650S Project Kilo from a normal McLaren 650S. The dark gray finish combined with a plethora of parts made from carbon fiber are all nice and... sporty, but what does matter to us are the Papaya Orange-painted exterior and interior bits and bobs.

Pricing? Win the lotto first and then MSO will talk with us mortals

Heck, there’s even a Kiwi bird painted on top of the engine’s cover, which a direct reference to the flightless birds native to a place we know as New Zealand. For the unknowing, NZ is the birthplace of a gentleman called Bruce McLaren, the chap that founded Bruce McLaren Motor Racing back in 1966. Yup, that Bruce.

With 650 horsepower and 500 lb-ft (678 Nm) produced by its 3.8 twin-turbo V8, the MSO 650S Project Kilo is just as fast as a standard 650S. Other noteworthy MSO-grade details are the 24k gold plated exhaust manifold (McLaren F1, anyone?), the titanium wheel nuts and the aluminum water and oil filler caps.
