Some naval designers focus on bringing innovation to a vessel’s exterior layout, the hull, or the superstructure, while others choose to go all out with the interior. This megayacht concept is from the latter category, though it does maintain an exterior design that will certainly please purists.
Project Century X is all business up front and pure opulence inside, while not straying into excessively gaudy territory. It’s the latest megayacht concept from Ocean Independence, proposing a new take on luxury seafaring – think of a floating five-star resort with the most insane amenities.

Century X measures 360 feet (110 meters) in length and, with its clean lines in crisp white, seems like typical megayacht fare from the outside. It’s the interior that makes all the difference, with an incredible volume, premium finishes, and only the most impressive amenities. “Pure lines, essential beauty and unlimited space” is how Ocean Independence describes this project.

Penned in partnership with exterior designer Christopher Seymour and design consultant Carl Esch, Century X has interior design by the world-renown Theodoros Fotiadis. Ocean Independence recommends Fincantieri Yachts as the preferred shipyard to bring the concept into reality, though it’s unclear if they had any involvement in the design.

Century X offers a staggering 32,292 square feet (3,000 square meters) of living space across five massive decks. Accommodation on board is for 14 guests in seven staterooms and 27 crew. The owner’s deck occupies no less than 15,069 square feet (1,400 square meters) and is perhaps the virtual cherry on the cake: it has a master suite, its own bar and dining area, and saloon.

Not that the other 12 guests will be pressed to find stuff to entertain themselves – or, as the designers put it, “multipurpose leisure possibilities, large and sumptuous exterior entertainment areas and comfortable interior spaces.” Century X is the living example of “everything is better in pairs” or even more units: the megayacht was designed as the ultimate leisure vessel and features no less than four freshwater pools and several idyllic waterfalls on the beach club.

Other amenities include an outstanding gym and wellness area, with sauna and massage center (what’s a megayacht without its own massage therapist, we ask), several saloons and lounge areas, a cinema lounge with another separate bar, and a generous beach club. Official renders of the project don’t offer as much as a glimpse at all this, but whatever is shown (mostly VIP suites) exudes opulence – though in a considerably subdued and sophisticated manner. Think of it as the opposite of the Versace style.

The crew has its separate galley and quarters, and there’s an elevator that offers easy access to all five decks. Ocean Independence doesn’t say whether it’s for guests’ or crew use.

Another highlight of this megayacht is the way it’s been outfitted for fun at sea. After all, this is a luxury leisure vessel, so it comes with a tender packed of toys: two main tenders, a Waverunner, two RIBs, four jet skis, and an assortment of water toys. A scuba diving facility with all the necessary gear is also available onboard, and a helideck will help tardy guests join in on the fun mid-way.

The plan is to power this megayacht with twin 3,600 kW (4,827 hp) engines that will deliver a top speed of 19 knots. At a more leisurely cruising speed of 16 knots, Century X has an estimated range of 6,000 nautical miles.

Project Century X is still a concept as of the time of writing, but Ocean Independence says construction will take 48 months and the estimated delivery is scheduled for 2024. Price is listed as “upon request” (because of course it is), but the estimated delivery seems to indicate a buyer has already expressed interest in this most opulent, nearly-shameless megayacht that puts the capital F back in “fun.”
