Royal Huisman's Project 406, which is set to become the world's largest and most luxurious sportfish yacht, is starting to take shape at the shipyard's facility in Vollenhove. A new milestone was marked as the vessel's superstructure was lowered onto the hull.
Unveiled last year, Project 406 was commissioned by an experienced owner who is passionate about big game fishing. The vessel, which was described as a "sportfisher on steroids," was designed by Vripack Yacht Design, and it measures 171 ft (52 meters) in length.
The astonishing yacht features six decks, a generous bow, high bulwarks, and a large fishing cockpit aft positioned close to the water. Recently, the decks were installed at Royal Huisman's headquarters in Vollenhove, Netherlands.
Four of them are currently undergoing preparations before the vessel's official debut in 2023. At the same time, Royal Huisman continues to work on its systems and technical installations. For now, details are kept under wraps, and its exterior and interior have yet to be revealed.
The aluminum hull, which was built during these past few months, is both durable and light, allowing the yacht to be more agile. It will also ensure that the owner will be able to enjoy smooth voyages to the fishing areas.
Once it sets sail, Project 406 will be the world's largest and most luxurious sportfish yacht. It will combine the sportfishing experience with the elegance and comfort of a superyacht. The vessel will feature a sky lounge that will serve as a "theatre" of outstanding fish catches during the day. At night it will be turned into a lounge area designed for ultimate relaxation at sea.
Laser-powered external lighting is another innovative element that the shipyard plans to include. Aside from the clean aft cockpit, it will include a high tower with a platform designed for specialized fishing. The tower will also serve as an excellent viewing point for guests, allowing them to keep an eye on everything that happens down below.
More details are expected to follow as Project 406 nears completion.
