Presented last year at the Tokyo Motor Show, the Daihatsu Copen concept was promising to be one of the funkiest kei cars around in 2015 when the production model was expected to arrive on the market.
The concept moved pretty fast to production and soon the camouflagedroad-going prototype has been spotted several times without giving much information on the vehicle’s final form. But luckily enough, someone tripped over some Daihatsu Copen dealership brochures and though it’s a great idea to share them with other automotive enthusiasts.

And what a great job he did, because these brochure photos are revealing the convertible kei roadster almost from any angle. Its final form pretty much sticks with the concept’s design, apart from those plain looking taillamps.

But don’t worry, because the Copen will feature around 11 replaceable panels which will be offered in different designs by the automaker itself. Thing which also applies for the interior trimmings too. Kinda like with the new Toyota Aygo but on a larger scale.

And all these thanks to a well-thought-out lightweight and strong monocoque framework going by the name of the D-Frame. It’s three times more stiffer than the one in the outgone Kopen and has been specially design to wear detachable resin-made body panels.

Looking at these photos, you can almost feel the new Copen will be a fun car to drive on a sunny day around town or even some country lanes despite its kei three-cylinder engine limited at 64 hp (63 bhp, 47 kW) and 92 Nm (68 lb-ft) of torque.

However, mated with the 5-speed manual transmission and not the available CVT, the Daihatsu Copen will feel pretty nimble at its 870 kg (1918 lb). Too bad it will mostly stay in Japan.
