The Russian drag racing scene is currently in the midst of an expansion and we're here to show you the machine that sits at the top of the quarter-mile chain.
We're talking about a Dodge Viper, but the early model body is here mostly for the show, as we're dealing with a Pro Mod machine that has long left its factory roots behind.
In the piece of footage at the bottom of the page, we can see the snake doing its 1,302 feet thing, with the machine delivering a 6.5s run.
Now, as any drag race aficionado could tell you, the time mentioned above is about one second away from the Pro Mod 1/4-mile world record, but the team that runs the car had two things to say in the comments section of the Youtube video.
First of all, the crew explained their best time sits at 5.7 seconds. Secondly, they explained the track seen here was extremely short (this is visible in the clip), which makes the deceleration distance almost twice as short as that of the average US drag strip - this apparently caused the team to donwtuned their beast in order to avoid a potential crash.
This means the Russian Godzilla is around half a second behind the world record, which currently sits with AMS Performance. Then again, the US aftermarket developer is working to beat its own record with the new GT-R Alpha G and things will change by the end of the year.
And while the example mentioned above might be the wildest Russian one we've brought you to date, we've also brought you other four-digit hp adventures from the country.

The Russian drag racing world
As we mentioned in the intro above, the straight line racing realm has been gaining serious traction in Russia. For instance, previous drag racing adventures from the country allowed us to bring you a Nissan GT-R that's still street-legal and can complete the quarter mile in 7.7s.This means the Russian Godzilla is around half a second behind the world record, which currently sits with AMS Performance. Then again, the US aftermarket developer is working to beat its own record with the new GT-R Alpha G and things will change by the end of the year.
