Pro-Mod Corvette Drag Races Street Cars from a Roll, Hilarity Ensues

Ever wondered what the automotive equivalent for bringing a gun to a knife fight is? The Corvette in the video below should make for a pretty good answer to this question nobody asked.

This is a Pro-Mod drag racecar and it was recently spotted playing with tuned street cars during a rolling race series at the drag strip. As you can imagine, the results were nothing short of hilarious.

The races took place during the Street Car Takeover event in Oklahoma City. To put things into perspective, we’ll mention that while its opponents are the kind of cars that can easily take out an exotic, they still fit in the “below 1,000 HP” bracket.

What about the "Corvette"? (quotes are here since this is not actually a 'Vette anymore)

As for the ‘Vette in question, this is motivated by a 421 ci V8, tipping the scales at 2,300 lbs (that’s 1,041 kg for all you reading this across the pond). The engine relies on nitrous to get the driver to the finish line first and yes, the man behind the wheel did use this during the rolling races we’re talking about.

The thing could deliver anywhere between 2,500 and 4,000 hp, so the only hope of the street car drivers was that it might not hook up. Well, it did. However, everybody at the drag strip got the picture and they worked together to keep things in the funny zone.

Your typical Pro Modified car will devour the standing start quarter mile somewhere in the 5-6s area, whereas the competitors it faced during the event struggle to earn the coveted “ten-second car” title.

Interestingly enough, a Pro Mod car that decides to skip turbocharging and supercharging, turning to nitrous in order to heat things up, has no displacement limit.
