Princess Yachts has extended its Y Class range of flybridge motor yachts with the Y85 model, an elegant vessel featuring an overall length of 86 feet (26.2 meters).
The design of the new luxury yacht is the result of the long-standing collaboration between Princess Design Studio and award-winning naval architects at Olesinski and Italian design house Pininfarina.
Refined, quintessential, and meticulous, this is how the Plymouth-based manufacturer describes the motor yachts in its Y Class series, and the newly revealed Y85 doesn’t stray from the norm.
The Princess Y85 is immediately recognizable as a member of the Y range as its exterior styling perfectly aligns with the rest of the class and it features the British builder’s elongated glazing across the hull.
It is powered by a couple of 1800mhp or 1900mhp MAN V12 engines, the latter of which is capable of endowing it with a top speed of up to 31 knots.
Andy Lawrence, Princess’s Director of Design, said, “The Y85 provides a strikingly dominant profile with a strong raised pilothouse stance created by the long continuous division of the wheelhouse to saloon window line, now complemented by our signature hull glazing, elongating the visual length and balancing the proportions beautifully.”
The flybridge layout includes a sunpad aft, along with a spacious dining area, a wet bar, and forward-facing seating on both sides of the helm. Prospective owners can choose to replace the sunpad with a spa bath and include an optional tender and crane.
One of the innovations brought about by this new motor yacht is the “infinity cockpit” concept, which brings guests closer to the water by creating a beach-club feel to the aft cockpit and offering clear views of the submersible bathing platform.
Inside, the saloon offers a large lounge area and a circular dining area nest to the galley. Another interesting design feature in this area is the fact that the galley can convert from open to enclosed by means of a sliding door and an electronic divider over the bar.
Four cabins on the below deck are ready to welcome 8 guests with luxurious materials and fixtures. The owner’s stateroom includes a large en-suite bathroom and dressing room to provide all the comfort from home while at sea.
The yacht builder also has plans to add another model to the range, the flagship Y95, which is set to be introduced by late 2022.
