Pregnant Woman Gets Parking Ticket for Not Giving Birth

We have recently seen how a pensioner was fined for parking on her own driveway, but the following story is even more absurd. A pregnant woman with just a few days before giving birth was fined 70 pounds for parking in a parent and child space because she had not given birth yet.

The driver, Annika Fewling, went to get some baby essentials and decided to park in the designated area. When returned, she found a 70 pounds parking ticket. When confronting the warden, he said that her baby is not classed as a child until it was born.

“I was in Boots for about 10 minutes. I came back and I had a parking ticket,'
she said for the Daily Mail. “The guy told me that until my baby is born it is not classed as a baby and there was nothing he could do about the ticket. The company was not prepared to listen to me. I am really quite shocked. I can't believe that pregnant women are not classed as having children.”

Annika was given the ticket at the Exe Bridge shopping centre in Exeter. The parking firm refused to cancel the ticket, claiming the woman wasn’t displaying any discomfort or distress when the fine was issued.

The woman chose the specific parking lot as it was more space. She needs an extra room to get out of the car, due to a condition which causes pains in the groin and her advanced pregnancy.

“Sometimes common sense is out the window. I would have thought that in her case it was the most obvious place to park. How do they know that person who has parked there doesn't have a child? I don't know, unless they were constantly there lying in wait,” said local Conservative councilor Percy Prowse.
