The Mercedes-Benz 300SL ‘Gullwing’ is one of the only truly pretty car shapes to ever come out of Germany. Usually, German cars are very technical and quite drab, but the Gullwing Coupe is truly excellent to look at and just as interesting and as any of the 1950s and 60s icon cars.
Now, if you are uber-rich and have one extra spot in your multi-car garage, which you were intending to fill with a classic car, then you can have your very own pre-production 300SL Gullwing, in black! The car in question was built in 1954, and so far, it has done 118,030 km (73,771 miles), and speculation suggests that it could even be the actual car, shown at the 1955 Detroit Auto Show - a real collectors’ piece if proven accurate.

It is one of 50 pre-production cars and it gets an assortment of unique features, of which worth mentioning are the special logo on the grille, gooseneck shift lever, and lower gearbox ratios to aid acceleration (at the expense of outright speed). If you were wondering about the color, you need to know that the car was originally white, then it was painted red, and finally, the paintjob that is still on the car - a very nice coat of black.(

So, what are you waiting for, random rich person, all you need is $850,000 (€691,000) and this car, which according to RM Auctions could be worth even more than the aforementioned sum, can be yours and it will be the most unique car you will ever have the privilege to own.
