Prank BMW E92 M3 Pick-Up Spotted at the Nurburgring

Back in 2011, BMW decided to pull the prank of the century when it announced that the world should be welcoming a pick-up version of the M3. Everyone skipped a beat when the car was actually unveiled by the Bavarians.

Looking at a very real car made at the BMW assembly lines a lot of people actually bought it and started ranting that the Bimmer DNA is going to be diluted and that this is simply madness and so on.

When the officials announced that this was all just a prank, we were relieved. However, we could see some Australians welcoming this sort of car into their homes. After all, utes are very popular over there.

And what better ute than a BMW with a 4-liter V8 engine and 420 HP? Imagine the donuts you could do with that thing...

The same car (that is actually a one-off) was recently spotted by our friend, Midaro992011 near the Nurburgring, hiding amongst a sea of M3 and MINIs, all of them ready to take on the Green Hell.

The car, that is based on the convertible chassis and has a flat-bed and a tow bar at the rear end, is 50 kg (110 lbs) lighter than a standard Coupe model. Furthermore, even though 2 years have passed, it still looks absolutely mental and we wouldn't say no to taking it for a spin, even though it might turn out to be quite dangerous, without all that weight on the back wheels.
