PP-Performance Throws Its Hat in the M4 Tuning Ring: 588 HP and 740 Nm

It’s quite crazy the amount of power some tuners claim they can get out of BMW’s new S55 twin-turbo engines. Earlier this week, we were rather reluctant to believe the guys from GSR Autosport when they claimed they were working on a tune for the M4 but, with more and more tuners claiming the same thing, we’re now 90 percent convinced that there’s something going on out there.

The main problem was to bypass the protection put in place by BMW on its ECUs, to keep such tuners out and not meddling with their engine but it would seem like the rumors saying that a decryption file was leaked online are true.

If GSR Autosport was not a known name in the tuning industry, PP-Perfomance is and they are renowned for their work, especially on cars from the Middle East. As it would turn out, they seemingly managed to create a Stage 2 tune for the new M3/M4 duo that is capable of unimaginable things.

According to a video posted on their Facebook account, they were able to take the 3-liter engine up and over the figures of a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 like the one used on the M5. Their dyno chart reads 588 HP and 740 Nm (546 lb-ft) of torque.

To put that in perspective, imagine that the M5 has only 560 HP and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque at its disposal and it’s nearly half a ton heavier. Just how crazy would you have to be to actually drive such a car?

Well, things are about to get even crazier as the company is claiming that a Stage 3 upgrade is on the way. Who knows what ridiculous amounts of power will that one bring...
