The current Nissan 370Z has been around since 2009, which means it's successor should be close. But what model will take the 370Z's place in Nissan's lineup?
That's the question Nissan is trying to answer right now, but they're not too sure about the Z-car's faith.

We've already run into rumors about an upcoming so-called Nissan 390Z, with officials saying the new Z-car will be lighter and cheaper than the current model.

Some voices even suggested the sportscar's styling cues would be influenced by the Nissan IDx Freeflow Concept. That doesn't sound bad at all, but now we have a visual interpretation of that courtesy of Theophilus Chin.

It looks good to us, but the design is pretty much a matter of subjectivity so we won't comment on the car's appearance as that's up to each and every one of you to judge.

What we'll tell you is that at some point not so long ago, the rumour mill was suggesting the new Z would use a hybrid powertrain.

In fact, the source detailed that a 2.0-liter Mercedes-Benz turbocharged engine would be paired to an electric motor. Now, what 2.0-liter plant from Mercedes would be suitable for a sports car? Yep, the same one powering the A 45 AMG pocket-rocket, but in a milder version.

Overall, we should expect a combined power output of around 250 horsepower and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of maximum torque, but at this point there is no official evidence for these figures.

Also, Nissan could as well take the 1.6-liter turbo good for 218 horsepower from the Juke Nismo RS, but we'll have to wait and see how the Japanese decide to play their cards.
