It’s no wonder why 2014 will be remembered as the year of the most automobile recalls ever. In addition to General Motors’ 80th campaign this year and Honda’s expansion of the Takata Corp airbag recall, now’s Nissan and Infiniti’s turn to announce a recall.
According to documents forwarded to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the maker of the of the monstrous GT-R and sister luxury brand Infiniti are set to call back a whopping 133,592 cars over a... burning issue (no pun intended). NHTSA’s website tells that these automobiles are prone to a defect which could lead to a potential vehicle fire.

Nissan North America informs that there’s a sensor within the fuel system, suspected to not have been sufficiently tightened during the assembly process. As a result of this, the fuel pressure sensor is prone to loosen with vehicle usage and cause a fuel leak.

As for nameplates affected by this worrying defect, certain 2012 to 2014 Nissan Juke, 2012 to 2013 Infiniti M56, QX56 and the 2014 - 2015 Infiniti Q70 and QX80 are covered in this call back campaign.

The Japanese manufacturer informs that dealer service departments were instructed to tighten the fuel pressure sensor to the proper torque levels. Nissan USA will notify affected owners as soon as possible.

The recall expected to begin on January 26th, 2015. If you’re not sure if your car is covered, we suggest to contact the NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236 or www.safecar.gov, or give Nissan a call at 1-800-647-7261.
