Recent rumors have hinted that Fiat and Volvo could form a partnership, as the Chinese Swedish manufacturer is looking to build small and medium-sized cars in the US. The catch is that if an automaker wants to make money on their cars sold in America, that manufacturer will need to build them within the States.
So, since Volvo and Geely don’t really have the financial oomph to build their own Stateside plant, they will be looking for other options to overcome the problem. The obvious solution would be a joint venture with Fiat-Chrysler, which would enable the Chinese Swedish manufacturer to build its cars in the US and reap all the benefits that come along with it.

While this is mere speculation, we are quite sure that something will materialize, sooner rather than later, and Volvo may build the US-bound V40 and S60 in America. Also, according to Volvo CEO Stefan Jacoby, when asked by a Bloomberg reporter about the possible joint venture with Fiat-Chrysler, he replied “Fiat is obviously one of the alternatives. If you speak to Marchionne, just tell him to call me.
