Porsche’s Walter Rohrl Looks Completely Relaxed while Hot Lapping a 911 GT3 RS

The 2016 GT3 RS is the 911-est of the contemporary 911s, Porsche’s ultimate track weapon that remains street legal. Imagine lapping the living hell out of such a machine on a track, what would your attitude be?

We’re willing to bet your answer was anything other than “perfectly relaxed”. Nonetheless, this is the posture displayed by the works driver as he flogs a GT3 RS on the circuit.

The German racing driver, who is now 68, manhandles the track-savvy 911 with the same composure the integral steering of the car allows this to fly from one corner to another.

Sure, the PDK gearbox makes things a bit simpler, but this is something else. The G forces experienced during the session are the only ones that bring a bit of aggitation into the cabin.

Then again, it’s only normal for Rohrl to play at this level. This man has rally-style driving in his blood. He’s the kind of guy who can improvise and anticipate corners using timing when the track gets foggy, and it’s impossible to see the braking points.

He started serving the VW Group back in the mid-80s and nowadays we most oftenly seen him behind the wheel of ridiculously fast Porsches such as the one we’re discussing here.

PS: we wish the PDK gearbox wouldn’t be there, so Rohrl could perform his famous three-pedal dancing moves. However, manual transmissions are making a comeback in Porsche’s GT metal, so things are looking positive.
