A few days ago we got our last look at the final trailer for the last movie in the Wars series, Rise of Skywalker. The movie is set for release on December 20, and everybody seems to be super-excited about it. Including one famous German carmaker by the name of Porsche.
In a brief statement dated earlier this week, but just released, Porsche said it teamed up with Lucasfilm to create a fantasy starship design that will be shown at the premiere of the movie.

The carmaker was very scarce as to what exactly the fantasy starship will be all about. What we do know is that it will be more than just a rendering, as a model will be built. Using what materials and at what scale are details that were not yet disclosed.

It is also unclear whether the project will somewhat tie into the movie. Most likely, it will not, and all this will be more of a Porsche-piggybacking on Star Wars success affair, in a bid to further to promote the Taycan. The company has already confirmed its first electric car will be on-site at the movie’s first screening.

“We are bringing together two worlds with this project: the exotic film design of a galaxy far, far away and the precision work that goes into developing emotive Porsche sports cars,” said in the usual unrevealing, mumbo-jumbo style Doug Chiang, Vice President and Executive Creative Director of Lucasfilm.

“This collaboration promises to produce an innovative design that will blend the best of both brands to create an exciting new starship worthy of Porsche and Star Wars.”

We’ll probably learn more about the project in the coming weeks, as work on it barely started. As per Porsche, its team will be meeting that of Lucasfilm on a regular basis in Stuttgart and San Francisco to make the idea a reality.

Until then, try and make something of the design sketches already released.
