Porsche Taycan Ends Euro Trip, Becomes New EV Dream Car

For the better part of September, a group of auto journalists from 46 countries has had the opportunity to test drive the Porsche Taycan. They did so as part of a tour that covered the better part of Europe, in a gigantic display of power.

The expedition started on September 17 in Oslo, Norway, and ended in Stuttgart this past weekend. A total of 18 cars, both Taycan Turbo and Taycan Turbo S, were driven in between them for a total of 87,930 km (54,637 miles). That's more than twice the circumference of our planet.

The trip was as much about Taycan’s performance capabilities as it was a display of how, given proper conditions, range anxiety and charging time should not be an issue for future owners.

With a range of 412 km (256 miles) for the Turbo S and 450 km (280 miles) for the Turbo, the Taycan is at the top of the food chain when it comes to electric cars. It seems to also occupy a top position when it comes to charging times, as Porsche says the average duration of a fill stop did not exceed 19 minutes, at an average rate of 260 kW.

“We have set out to demonstrate the thrilling way that the Taycan drives alongside its sheer usability, with a journey from city to city across Europe,” said in a statement Mayk Wienkötter, Porsche spokesperson Model Line Taycan and E-Mobility.

“This is only possible due to our car’s range, which is up to 450km according to WLTP, and efficient charging infrastructure that already exists.”

Production of the Taycan is already underway at the Porsche facility in Zuffenhausen, so customers should be able to experience the new Porsche way of driving pretty soon. So will everyone else, because with over 30,000 pre-orders to its name, the Taycan should become a common sight on the world’s roads in no time.
