Porsche Taycan 4S Lands on U.S. Soil, Deliveries Begin

In September last year, German carmaker Porsche joined the electric car party with the launch of the Taycan. Arriving as the first luxury electric car made by a mainstream carmaker, the Taycan is now offered in no less than three variants.

The Turbo and Turbo S have been available for American customers for a little while now, but as of this week the third model, the 4S, joins the range as well.

The 4S is to be perceived as the entry-level model in the range. It is powered by a 93.4 kWh battery that feeds electricity to two electric motors. These develop a combined 562 hp when the overboost function and launch control are activated.

That amount of power translates into an acceleration time to 60 mph of 3.8 seconds, a top speed of (250 kph) 155 mph, while the range of the car has been measured at 203 miles (327 km). That’s significantly less than the 256 miles (412 km) of the Turbo S, or the 280 miles (451 km) of the Turbo.

“The new Taycan 4S sits right at the heart of our electrified model line-up, delivering the effortless performance and engaging dynamics expected of a Porsche sports car with the space and connectivity that make it viable for everyday use,” said in a statement Klaus Zellmer, Porsche North America CEO.

“Even in these challenging times, it is a credit to our dealers that they have developed innovative ways to support our customers. This means the first of the Taycan 4S’s to arrive here in the US will be delivered by our dealers to awaiting customers in the coming days.”

The Taycan is one of the most exciting new electric cars on the market. After being praised by countless individuals and organizations in recent months, the nameplate managed to snatch not one, but two World Car of the Year Awards: World Luxury Car and World Performance Car.
