Porsche Selling like Hotcakes, Brand Sets New Record Year

The Stuttgart-based sports car maker has a good reason to celebrate in 2015 because the company managed its best sales result to date.

Porsche delivered over 200,000 cars to customers in the first 11 months of 2015, which represents the best ever sales result the company recorded in its history. Thanks to the Cayenne, the most popular model in the range, Porsche exceeded last year's result by the end of November 2015.

Last month, the Volkswagen-owned brand delivered 18,110 new cars. Thanks to those and many more, Porsche managed to hand over more vehicles in the first 11 months of the current year than it did in 2014.

The European market rose 30% for Porsche in the first 11 months of 2015, as the German brand sold 70,509 units on the continent. In China, Porsche also recorded success in 2015, with 54,302 cars delivered to customers until the end of November. Right behind China is the United States of America, where Porsche customers received 47,819 vehicles. If we order the main markets by growth, China is in the first place, followed by Europe, the Asia-Pacific Region including Africa and the Middle East, and the USA.

Cayenne remains Porsche's best-selling car, with 68,029 units delivered until the beginning of December. Sales of the Cayenne have risen by 14% in 2015 on a global level. In November alone, Porsche delivered 6,579 Cayenne units, an increase of 39% compared to the same month in 2014.

Remember when the Porsche purists claimed the Cayenne wasn't right for the brand and all the bad press this car received when it first came out? While we admit not being the biggest fans of SUVs from sportscar makers, we confess that driving the Cayenne can change the mind of any naysayer.

"We have reached a milestone of our strategy 2018 well ahead of schedule. Porsche employees worldwide have joined forces to contribute to making this success possible. With our future-oriented products, our motivated staff and our powerful sales partners the world over, we are clearly well positioned for the future," said Detlev von Platen, Member of the Executive Board.

In over fourteen years, he got behind the wheel of several hundred vehicles and in the offices of the most important car publications in his homeland.
