Porsche Secretly Built a 911 R 3D Puzzle with Ravensburger

The iconic shape of the Neunelfer might be largely unchanged for decades, but turning it into a puzzle wasn't exactly easy, as the toy specialist explains.

“It was a challenge to recreate the iconic shape of the Porsche 911 R as accurately and in as much detail as possible,” said Martin Fischer, a development engineer at Ravensburger. “That and dividing up the puzzle segments were the most complex steps from a technical point of view,”

Unlike the real-life 911 R, the puzzle won't only be offered to 918 Spyder owners, so getting your hand on one shouldn't be all that difficult. In fact, we have even more good news, as Porsche has mentioned that this project is only the start of a partnership that will bring more Zuffenhausen machines on our desks.

"The 3D puzzle of the 911 R is just the starting point for an extensive collaboration between Porsche and Ravensburger in the coming years. The two long-established companies share a similar ethos regarding their dedication to their products, their skillful engineering and their exceptionally high-quality standards," the company explains in a release.

Then again, the idea of a 911 R three-dimensional puzzle isn't exactly new. In fact, back in February this year, we brought you an actual 911 R that had been gifted with a puzzle wrap over in Germany. Interestingly, the spec of the car was identical to the one used for the official puzzle, so perhaps those were the two companies secretly testing the waters.
