Porsche Rolls Out 10,000th Panamera

Porsche recently announced that its Leipzig plant produced the 10,000th Panamera, a model that was purchased by a consumer in Singapore. Porsche intends to sell a total of 20,000 units per year, with the German factory currently working at full capacity.

“Sales of the Panamera have really taken off: we have already secured over 9,000 orders. Shortly after it was launched our Gran Turismo won the coveted “Goldenes Lenkrad” [“Golden steering wheel”] and “Auto Trophy” awards in Germany. It has also won many international prizes," Michael Macht, Chairman of the Board of Porsche AG, said in a statement.

Panamera is currently built alongside Cayenne, with Porsche investing a total of 150 million euros to create a new assembly hall, a logistics center, a pilot and analysis center, and a training facility. Panamera's bodies are provided by Volkswagen that builds them at its plant in Hannover.

"In Leipzig the interior of the Panamera is first assembled on a singular line. Then, when both the Cayenne and Panamera have reached the same status in manufacturing, they are completed on one single line - a remarkable feat when you consider the countless individual options and configurations for each model,"
Porsche explained earlier this year the manufacturing process of the Panamera.

The Leipzig facility started production of the Panamera in May, but the official market release took place in September this year. The car is available in three versions: a 4.8l V8 engine which develops either 400 horsepower or 500 horsepower as well as a six-cylinder gasoline engine. At a later time, the Panamera will also get a hybrid version.
