According to NHTSA, Porsche is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 911 cars, built between March 7 and November 12, 2012, that were fitted with standard exhaust system.

"The exhaust tail pipe may fracture and separate from the rear muffler", says the German company through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, adding that "it may become a hazard for other vehicles on the road, increasing the risk of a crash".

Owners will be notified by the automaker for the rear mufflers to be replaced, free of charge, at Porsche dealerships.

Porsche Cars North America Inc. says 2,263 units could be affected by this problem.
