Porsche Panamera Loves Asia

There are still over ten days remaining until the long awaited Panamera will make its official debut at the 2009 Shanghai Auto Show and the German manufacturer decided to give us yet another taste of Porsche's fourth model, so that it doesn't slip the public mind.

The car will be unveiled on April the 20th, at the aforementioned event. Porsche even went as far as trying to explain why, of all the events in the world, the Panamera chose to roll into a Chinese one.

"Through the presentation in Shanghai the company is sending a powerful message to the whole world and demonstrating its strong commitment to the up-and-coming Asian markets. This is a clear signal that we count on these markets and have full confidence in their future economic potential.”

Last year, Porsche registered significant increase in sales in Asia (7,600 units, that is 140 percent more than in the previous fiscal year) and, as the 2009 crisis infected year rages on, the prospect of what may very well be the single market still breathing is very appealing for the manufacturer's plans this year,

With the Panamera, Porsche will set a stronger foothold on the luxury performance segment. Accounting to about one million units market volume every year in normal economic circumstances (not the case anymore), this segment will come under the attack of the 20,000 Panameras the company hopes to sell each year.

Strangely enough, even if it will surface in China, the Panamera will not go there until early 2010. The prime markets targeted by Porsche are Europe, South America and some parts of Asia, which will see the car in September 2009. North America and Australia will join China and wait for the car until 2010;
