A Porsche Panamera 4S caught fire while parked inside the garage of a couple from Moscow, Russia. The luxury saloon had no known problems and it’s thus only natural that the owners want to sue the automaker for damages.
The Panamera belonged to Roman and Svetlana Martynenko, who say they were woken up in the middle of the night by the smell of burning. When they investigated the source, the couple realized it was coming from their garage, which couldn’t be opened.
Huge flames were coming out of the Panamera’s engine bay and when Roman realized he couldn’t stop them, he called the fire brigade. By the time they stopped it, the Panamera was was destroyed and so was part of their house.
In an interview, mister Martynenko said that despite being a persona acquaintance of Wolfgang Porsche his complaints have been ignored. An independent investigation reportedly said the fire had come from an electrical short, but Porsche refuses to acknowledge the results since its experts were not on hand.
As a result, the Moscow couple are now suing Porsche for 100 million Rubles, which is over one million euros at today’s rates.
They might not have a Youtube channel and the backing of the whole internet like Nick Murray had with his Porsche Nine-a-lemon, but the Martynenkos seem to have local media on their side. Maybe this will teach Porsche once and for all how to respond to the pleads of loyal customers that have been wronged. And maybe some guidelines for local dealerships need to be set, since this neglectful treatment would never have happened in Germany.
