German carmaker Porsche said it expects its sales figures to almost double to 200,000 by 2018. This means that most of its new models, if not all, are expected to be finished before then if they are to make a difference.
One of the cars widely expected to be put into production is a smaller sedan under the Panamera, which the industry has dubbed Pajun (short for Panamera Junior). This would help bridge the gap between Porsche’s cars and the more affordable BMW 5-Series or Mercedes E-Class.
Porsche CEO Matthiass Mueller told German news magazine Focus that he doesn’t want any car that’s cheaper than €50,000, which is a sort of magic barrier for the automaker. Anything below could hurt their premium image, he said.
Contrary to popular belief, the Pajun is not yet being developed and is still awaiting the production green light.
Also being considered is a more expensive sportscar than the 911, which would compete with Ferraris.
