Porsche must’ve thought about all those fans who dream about their 918 Spyder but will never get behind its wheel, with the automotive producer now offering us a POV video showing the 918 Spyder doing a hot lap.
The hybrid hypercar is being driven on the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Tezas, where Porsche works driver Patrick Long mahandles the thing. With the nice perspective, which comes as close to putting one in the driver’s seat as possible, the clip has plenty to offer. Of course, the plug-in hybrid advantages of the 918 Spyder are being showcased here.
For instance, Long exits the pit lane in all-electric mode - the silence inside the car is something that definetly draws your attention. Lather on, we are presented with violent accelerations in the sport hybrid mode, where the petrol and the electric power join forces.
When the 918 reaches the back straight, Long makes use of the hot-lap button - the little red thing on the dash that makes the car surge towards the horizon. To talk figures, you’ll be enjoying a bit of 170 mph (274 km/h) action in this part of the video.
Long keeps things neat through the corners, but you can see him working hard behind the wheel. Towards the end of the lap though, he does slide the heavy hypercar though. The show must go on...
