Fresh from Porsche's engineering labs, the new Macan has been a huge hit for the Germans, with waiting lists that extend to over a year in some markets. While the German company has done a great job turning the Audi Q5 into the most engaging SUV on the road, for some people the stock setup just isn't enough.
Equipped with a 258 PS V6 engine, the Macan S Diesel is your first and last choice of model available with a diesel engine at the moment. It claims 0 to 100 km/h sprints in 6.1 seconds and a reasonable top speed of 230 km/h (142 mph). Both numbers are comparable to a hot hatch, but this is a Porsche, and some people just want more.
This next video shows a Macan S Diesel being chip-tuned by French company Digiservices. They remapped the engine to the point where it makes 305 PS and 630 Nm (465 lb-ft) of torque, 47 PS and 70 Nm (52 lb-ft) more than stock.
We don't encourage tuning an engine, especially if it's a diesel. This treatment can lead to a lot of problems with the fuel injectors and the turbo later on in the Macan's life. But the sight of a 300 horsepower diesel Macan on an all-wheel drive dyno is just so cool that we couldn't let it pass by.
But the big question here is this: why doesn't Porsche offer more power with the Macan S Diesel? They already have a 300 PS mill available on the new Panamera and it's shameful how Audi's SQ5 packs a much more impressive 313 PS.
