Porsche Macan Has a Diesel Engine and It Could Be State-bound

The Porsche Macan is steadily shaping up to be an awesome Porsche, even though its formula is less than perfect. The new SUV to wear the Stuttgart emblem is being sampled by journalists in the hills of California, and Truck Trend has published some interesting findings.

According to them, the Macan is a lot of fun to drive, as they compare the Turbo model to the Cayman or Boxster in terms of driver enjoyment.

Porsche never openly revealed anything about the engine range, but a dealer meeting resulted in leaked details. We know there will be a 3-liter V6 in the S model and a 3.6-liter in the Turbo, both bi-turbo units.

We don't, however, know anything about diesel power. Truck Trend says company officials openly admitted to the Macan Diesel. When asked about its US availability engineers answered "What do you think?"

David Engelman, Porsche North America's media relations manager, said 30% of Panamera sales are diesel. The Audi Q5 on which the Macan is based also has a 3-liter TDI clean diesel, which is why we think Porsche should launch the Macan with an oil-burner stateside. Too long have US buyers been deprived of a performance diesel car.
