Porsche Macan GTS vs. BMW X4 M40i, the 0-124 MPH Acceleration Soundtrack Comparo

While the piece of footage at the bottom of the page provides a legit aural comparison between the Porsche Macan GTS and the BMW X4 M40i, it might seem irrelevant to talk about an aural battle between two crossovers.

Nevertheless, if you've gone for the Macan GTS instead of the S, or chosen the X4 M40i over the xDrive28i and xDrive 35i, it means powaaah was important for you, so the soundtrack should also matter.

The clip offers us a battle involving the 0 to 124 mph sprint, but these are Euro-spec models, so you'll see their speedometers climbing to 200 km/h. Speaking of European cars, we'll tip our hats to the German crew over at Sport Auto for the clip.

Given the fact that topping the speed mentioned above on public roads is wrong on multiple levels, this comparo is all you need when it comes to the voices of these two German machines.

In terms of numbers, the 4,235 lbs BMW is motivated by a twin-scroll 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 delivering 355 hp and 343 lb-ft of twist and being able to send the car from standstill to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds.

As for the Porsche Macan GTS, which tips the scales at 4,178 lbs, this is motivated by a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 producing 360 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque, with the 0 to 60 mph sprint being covered in 4.8 seconds when the optional Sport Chrono Package is used (5.0s without it).

There's one thing we need to set straight before inviting you to hit the "play" button below and let the two crossovers deliver their aural experiences - it all has to do with the money.

Truth be told, the comparison here is a bit unfair from the financial point of view. And that's because the GTS badge means the Macan, whose "entry-level" S model starts at $, comes with an MSRP of $67,200. Well, the M40i might be the spiciest X4 flavor offered by the Bavarian automaker, but its MSRP sits way below that of the Porsche, with the Bimmer starting at $45,250.
