When we met Zotye’s creations in person earlier this year at the Shanghai Motor Show, we were treated with contraptions such as a BMW i3 replica using a Tesla-like dashboard. Thus, it comes as no surprise to see their latest copy-paste job.
We’re talking about the T700, the Chinese carmaker’s version of the Porsche Macan. The resemblance to the Zuffenhausen crossover is stunning, whether we’re talking about the front fascia, the side view, or the rear end.
Even when we zoom in on the details, the Macan styling cues remain strong, even though there are a few differences between the headlights and the taillights. While the first are close to what we’ve seen on Peugeots, the latter seem borrowed straight from the German model.
As far as the interior is concerned, Zotye once again turned to Porsche and we’re talking about the Cayenne-like center console handles here. In what seems to have become a signature move for the Chinese company, there’s a massive tablet on the center console serving as an infotainment system.
In terms of power, we’ll remind you the Chinese market version of the Porsche Macan starts with a four-cylinder engine not offered in the US or Europe - the Macan 2.0T offering 237 PS - we've added some pics of the actual Macan below the Zotye images.
Zotye also offers a 2-liter unit, but this comes in naturally-aspirated form, reportedly delivering 177 hp. Not that this would be the problem with the copycat.
The T700 will come with a price of CNY170,000 (USD27,400 or EUR24,300). Over three times cheaper compared to an entry-level Macan.
