The 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed hostilities have debuted and while the official releases are not out yet, we are here to take a brief look at what one of the most effervescent carmakers on the scene is doing. Let’s talk Porsche.
Those who weren’t paying attention to Porsche’s communication expected the Germans to focus on their new Macan for the 2014 Festival of Speed. Well, as Porsche announced, they have other plans for Goodwood. The Macan may be the sportiest four-wheel creation to be labeled under “crossover”, but the priorities were a bit different. These include the 918 Spyder, as well as this year’s Le Mans racer, the 919 Hybrid, which is attending together with a pair of Le Mans-winning Porsches. Mark Webber is on the house.

Moving to the on-site part of the story, a Porsche 911 Turbo S police car showed up out of the blue. Make that yellow and blue. The aforementioned livery and the mandatory light bar make an intimidating match for the active rear wing at the back. To put it another way, when the patrol vehicle has centerlock wheels, you know you’re up for a serious job.

As Twitter user James Tomlinson, who snaped an image of the thing, puts it, this is the kind of car that easily convinces one to take up law enforcement.

Alas, Porsche also had what appears to have been a minor crash at Goodwood. We are talking about a Cayenne that hit a fence while tackling the famous hill climb. Twitter user Caroline Jessop explains that a fence post went through the rear window, while her photo reveals the front apron has decided to leave the car, but it’s still not sure about this.

Update: We contacted Caroline on the Porsche Cayenne crash matter and she explained this was a vehicle offering demo rides. She explained the SUV hit the fence while braking with three passengers aboard. The Cayenne subsequently spun, damaging the front bumper in the process.

Update 2: As you can see in the comments section below, our reader Phbe claims he was one of the three passengers, explaining that the Cayenne was not braking when it lost control, offering us the actual details of the accident.
