Porsche Introduces 2011 Cayenne Turbo 540 HP Powerkit

Porsche has just announced changes for its 2011 Cayenne model lineup, and while a few extra horsepower, some extra features and a new Powerkit might not sound like much at first, it all combines to make the Cayenne more attractive than ever.

We’ve already told you about the changes for the 3.0-liter V6 oil-burning version (the Cayenne Diesel), but now it’s the turn of the powerful Cayenne Turbo to shine under the spotlights.

The Cayenne Turbo is now available with the same Powerkit as the Panamera, boosting maximum output by 40 hp to 540 hp. Of course, the SUV get some extra torque to shred all four tires with - 750 Nm (553 lb-ft). In addition to that, the germans have also improved the colling for the bakes, increasing the fading resistance of the SUV.

Given the extra pulling power of the 4.8-liter V8, the SUV is now 0.1 of a second faster to 100 km/h (62 mph), while top speed is improved by 4 km/h to 281 km/h (176 mph). Porsche brags that the improvements do not affect fuel economy, which remains at 11.5 liters/100 km (20.45 mpg).

“The increased power is partly achieved by two new turbochargers with titanium- aluminium turbine wheels and adjustments to the engine electronics, resulting in yet further perceptible improvements in the engine’s response. The greater power is not without consequences for the braking system. The cooling of the brakes has been further improved and the optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) provides deceleration courtesy of larger front brake discs, now with 420 millimetre diameter. An optional 20 inch collapsible spare wheel is available for vehicles equipped with this system,” the German carmaker explains.

At the moment, no pricing information is available, but we can tell you that the Panamera's Powerkit costs EUR16,695.70 in Europe, including VAT. This also means that, for now, we are free to dream about the brute force without any financial constrains...
