Porsche Design Yacht to be Launched in Q2 2011

Porsche Design, together with the Singapore-based luxury yacht manufacturer Royal Falcon Fleet, are accelerating work on building the RFF135 power cataraman. The company announced recently its first watercraft will be launched in the second quarter of 2011. This means a substantial delay compared to the initial launch date announced by the manufacturer for the fourth quarter of 2010.

After the hull was successfully completed, the specialists moved to the technical installation and interior fitting out, which aims to follow Porsche Design’s tradition and combine luxury and functionality.

The hull of the RFF135 is not made of fibreglass, but entirely of aluminum. Inside, materials include brushed stainless steel and aluminium, leather for the seats and wall coverings, together with carbon fiber. However, customers get to personalise their catamaran.

“Once again, we are adding more accents with this project. Back in 1987, we designed the motor yacht ‘Kineo’. An exclusive racing boat, of which there are only three examples worldwide and which drew significant attention due to its characteristic dolphin shape. The luxury brand Porsche Design handled projects like this since its foundation,” Juergen Gessler, CEO of the Porsche Design Group, said in a release.

“They forge the link between complex, state of the art technology and classic accessories,” he added. “And they enable us not only to perfect the ‘engineered luxury’ standard, but also to implement the experience gained in a wide range of products. For example, we use the Beta-Titanium material favoured by the space industry in our Porsche Design glasses, to ensure that they are as lightweight, flexible and comfortable to wear as possible.”
