Porsche Design 911 Speaker Looks Like GT3 Exhaust; There's Also a Soundbar

Let's start with the former. Launched at the beginning of summer, the 911 Speaker is available from Porsche Design, costing $599 or €499, depending on the market. While most such devices cost $50 or more, this one is aimed at the aficionado who wants an extraordinary toy.

The device is made to look just the twin exhaust pipes and the surrounding bumper trim of a 911 GT3. It looks small, but at 3.3 kilograms, it's not the kind of thing you take with you everywhere. There are two reasons for that: an unusually high 60 watts and enough battery for 24 hours of music.

The device measures 11.42 inches long, 6.1 inches wide, and 4.7 inches tall (290 x 155 x 120 millimeters). It's Bluetooth 4.0 connection should work with most PCs or phones at up to 33 feet away (10 meters). It also comes with NFC pairing and used in stereo or party modes.

We'd class this as a good gift idea for any Porsche fan. However, there are much crazier devices out there. For example, the iXosst Esavox 6.1 with a design by Automobili Lamborghini uses the exhaust pipes from an Italian supercar and costs about 20 times more.

However, we've also got an in-between solution that once again comes from Porsche Design. Last year, they introduced the 911 Soundbar. It costs $3000 or €2900 and takes the shape of the famous sportscar's entire muffler, perched on top of its pedestal.

While most soundbars are designed to fit almost invisibly underneath the television, this one stands out like a sore metal thumb. The 200-watt, 2.1 audio system incorporates an LED display mounted in the center and has a Dolby digital decoder.
