Porsche has given us a press release in which it details an EUR500 million ($683 million) investment plant for its Leipzig plant in Germany. This might not sound so interesting, but it includes a detail that changes everything: the automotive producer has confirmed that the site will debut the production of the Porsche Cajun in late 2013.
Porsche promises that its compact crossover (the sketch you see here was don by deviantart user dyrborgdesign) will be an agile creature and is aiming to dominate competitors such as the Range Rover Evoque, the BMW X3 and the Mercedes GLK.
Unfortunately, the release doesn't include any additional info about the car, so we can only remind you that previous unofficial reports indicate that the vehicle will offer petrol and diesel engines, as well as a hybrid version.
The entry-level unit is expected to be a 2.0-liter TFSI with 223 hp and this should be followed by a supercharged V6, which could be offered with two power levels: 300 ad 350 hp.
As for the diesel side of the range, this should start with a 200 hp 2-liter TDI, while the car should also receive 250 hp and 314 hp versions of the 3.0-liter V6 TDI powerplant. The hybrid version should include a 211 hp TFSI petrol engine and a 44 hp electric motor.
