Porsche Cayman GT4 Taxi Shows Up at Cars & Coffee in California

The Porsche Cayman has always exuded practicality thanks to its “trunk+frunk” setup and now it seems somebody decided to take proper advantage of this. Ladies and gentlemen drivers, meet the Porsche Cayman GT4 taxi.

The car was spotted over the weekend at the Cars & Coffee event in Aliso Viejo, CA. Sure, this is probably not an actual taxi, like the CLA45 AMG taxi we took in Austria, but it could be one. Think about it.

As we said, the Cayman offers a front and a rear trunk, so it can swallow up to 425 liters (15 cubic feet of your stuff). And yes, it may only have one passenger seat, but many rides follow that route anyway.

And since the Racing Yellow is a factory color, your passenger could never accuse you of going too fast. Just make sure he or she doesn’t touch that rear wing at the end of the ride.

On the other hand, the 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4 is that kind of car that keeps you on your toes even before you get to buy it. Porsche’s GT division is only building around 2,500 units of the GT4, so it’s difficult to believe somebody would want to thrash his or her in the service of other people.

Then again, with a Porsche 911 GT3 suspension and packing a manual since the PDK would’ve been too fast for its 911 big brother, every mile spent driving this Zuffenhausen machine is worth it.

So if somebody decided to team up with Uber, for instance, and use their GT4 as a taxi, it would all be quality time spent with their Porsche. You know, choosing to enjoy your car instead of turning it into a low-mileage collectible.

I would like to get to the other end of the Nurburgring, please.
