The Porsche Cayman GT4 is the kind of car that doesn’t need any special touch, and yet don’t expect the aftermarket world to sit back and watch the track-savvy mid-engined Porsche running around in factory stock trim.
The latest example of this comes from Pennsylvania-based Fabspeed Motorsport, which is working on a custom exhaust for this GT4. We’ll remind you the aftermarket developer has already gifted the extreme Cayman with a headers upgrade, allowing customers to choose between a Sport and a Race version.

Nevertheless, Fabspeed Motorsport now wants to preview a full exhaust system. Since this is one of its Valvetronic systems, the driver will be able to select the level of aural intensity.

For now, all we get is a teaser, which comes in the form of the clip below. However, this video is enough to let us know we’re dealing with one beastly soundtrack. So yes, we are looking forward to the full release.

What about the power gains?

There’s no new information available, but Fabspeed Motorsport did give us some figures when introducing its custom headers.

The Sport version allows the 3.8-liter boxer at the middle of this Cayman to deliver an extra 18 hp and 25 lb-ft (20 Nm). As for the Race version of the hardware goodie, this increases the output premium to 27 hp and 38 lb-ft (51.5 Nm).

Porsche’s GT division has made it clear that the Cayman GT4 is a limited edition model. Nothing is official yet, but this 911-powered Cayman is expected to arrive in no more than 2,500 units per year.

As a result, you shouldn’t be surprised if many owners choose to leave their cars in standard form. After all, if you want to start a tuning project that will take your Cayman to a certain level, you can always begin with a much more affordable S model.
