Porsche Cayman GT4 Gets 2017 Porsche 911 R Livery in Hong Kong

Just when we though we had shown you the entire palette of Porsche GT car wraps, the Cayman GT4 in these images comes top it all off with a family disguise job.

What we have here is an uber-Cayman that has borrowed the 2017 911 R livery, mixing the longitudinal stripes on the top of the machine with the "Porsche" stickers on the side. We're obviously dealing with a wrap job here and this has been handled by Impressive Wrap Hong Kong.

The second skin job is rather surprising, especially since plenty of Porsche aficionados have been delivering negative opinions on the R's stripes. Nevertheless, the move is a guaranteed attention magnet, which is probably just what the doctor owner ordered.

One might be tempted to think such a wrap would turn an otherwise stunning Cayman GT4 into a bit of an impostor. Then again, you can look at this from a different perspective: since we're talking about the only two current GT division cars that come with a stick shift, the match is perfect.

And since this is but a second skin adventure, the Cayman can return to its factory form whenever its driver gets tired of playing the wolf in wolf's clothing game.

Speaking of GT division Porsches, the GT2 is a boiling topic these days. Whether we're talking about the Nurburgring or some mountain pass, 2017 911 GT2 prototypes are out there, testing and teasing at the same time.

The rumor mill has gone crazy, talking about the GT2 following the 911 R and the Cayman GT4 down the three-pedal route. Nevertheless, with the annual production number rumored to be even lower than the (overall) 991 units of the R, the GT2 is more of a fascination that an actually attainable Zuffenhausen God.

The new 911 range topper should debut at this fall's Paris Motor Show or in early 2017. And no, it won't be able to escape the wrap madness, with the 911 R providing the best clue towards this.
