Porsche Cayman GT4 at the Geneva Motor Show

Originally, the Cayman was an afterthought, a coupe based on the already popular Boxster rag-top convertible. But with the Cayman GT4, Porsche proved that this is not the middle-of-the-road model of its lineup anymore, but a highly capable track-focused precision tool.

Precision tool may not be the right choice of words here, albeit we aren’t doubting the go-faster credentials of the 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4. This pucker up machine is a byword for driving fun above all else in this editor’s book.

A naturally aspirated 385 horsepower flat-six mated to a six-speed close-ratio manual, the stiffened chassis with 911 GT3-sourced bits here and there, joined by an €85,779 starting price in its home land, the all-new Cayman GT4 ticks all the right boxes if you're an enthusiastic driver with hoonage in mind.

If you are able to look beyond the carbon fiber madness and the highly efficient aerodynamic package designed for out-and-out downforce, then you will be able to admire the bewitching Cayman GT4 for what is - the most extreme and exuberant incarnation of the nameplate.

We were so attracted to the way this basket case of four wheels looks from six feet away that we set up our DSLR cameras to record it on video. The Geneva Motor Show crowd was more attracted to far more expensive exotica like the Koenigsegg Regera and the Spania GTA, but you know what?

The Cayman GT4 is far more beautifully penned and more attractive than the previously mentioned lot of hypercars. Furthermore, this is the first Cayman that has ever been allowed to be faster than a 911.
