Porsche Cayenne Turbo Coupe Is All Kinds of Fast, Hits 297 km/h on Autobahn

Porsche Cayenne Turbo Coupe - that just sounds like a Matchbox car from the 90s. However, it's a very real and quite expensive new German SUV that's supposed to be part of the hip crowd.

You see, normal SUVs like the Range Rover and Q7 are for goring people with obligations and kids. If you're an Instagram influencer, you need an SUV-coupe, like the new Audi Q8. BMW probably wishes it could patent the idea behind the original X6 because everybody has one of these. Porsche only just launched its derivative, and it's hard not to be impressed.

At first glance, the cosmetic changes are small, only a chunk missing from the trunk and some minor trim touches. The roof is nowhere near as rakish as the GLE Coupe, but the Cayenne Coupe has something going on. Just look at this Lava Orange paint, which is a €2,400 option, and tell us it's no better than a standard Cayenne.

Some would argue that this is what the new Cayenne should have been all along. We remember looking at the Mk3 and wondering what they've actually changed form the previous generation. The engine downsizing to a 4-liter didn't go down that well either, so the Coupe is a redemption project for Porsche.

This aggressive speed machine also seems to have 2k's worth of wheels and the €2,800 sports exhaust or the whole €10,500 Lightweight Package. Even as standard, the Cayenne Turbo Coupe packs 550 horsepower and 770 Nm (568 pound-feet), good for 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 286 km/h. But in this independent autobahn test, it reaches as high as 297 km/h.

Of course, you can go a little faster in the top version of the Bentayga and Lamborghini Urus, both of which are based on the same platform as the Cayenne. But Porsche has an even more powerful hybrid equalizer coming up.
