Porsche Cayenne Diesel Is Now in Production

As we announced in a previous report last month, Porsche Cayenne is going to have a Diesel sibling that is now in production at the German automaker's factory in Leipzig.

Because promises must be kept, Porsche AG has already started the production of the new Cayenne Diesel in order to be ready for sale starting with February, next year.

As a quick reminder, the Porsche Diesel is equipped with a three liter V6 turbo diesel engine, Audi AG has generously supplied, developing 240 HP (176 kW).

Ok, it's a diesel engine but the natural question would be: what's so spectacular about this? As producers claim, the magnificent difference is made by its spontaneous vehicle response. Besides, the vehicle comes in with a strong torque of maximum 550 Newton meters which endows it with a “spor-ty handling and masterful road sovereignty”. On the other side of the spectrum, purists say that a diesel Porsche is a blasphemy and that the men and women responsible should be stoned to death; maybe not that radical but you get the idea.

As if fearing the stoning, the manufacturers promise the same driving pleasure as the one offered by the classic petrol versions.

On the other hand, even wealthy people need to save a buck in these trying times, so the improved fuel consumption will be quite welcomed. Speaking of consumption, did you know that the average is only 9.3 liters per 100 kilometers? Most impressive for a Porsche, diesel as it may be.

The ugly part is that it harms the environment since it has CO2 emissions of 244 grams per kilometer. But let's be honest: who wouldn't drive a Porsche because it adds a little bit of CO2 to a certain atmosphere?! Raise your hands!

Yet, if the Cayenne Diesel is what you want to drive on the European (and not only) highways, you must afford to take only about €50,000 (more or less depending on the country you live in and the options you want to add) from your pocket to spend it on this new member of the Porsche family!
