Porsche Carrera GT Drifts Exiting a Parking Lot with Hair-Raising V10 Engine Sound

The current 918 Spyder-LaFerrari-P1 triumvirate may have its technological assets, but when compared to their respective predecessors in terms of the soundtrack, the fresh metal loses the battle. Perhaps the best way to illustrate this is to use the Porsche Carrera GT.

Zuffenhausen’s senior supercar has plenty of assets, but the voice of its V10 heart is the one that goes deepest into a man’s own heart when the machine is experienced online, not in the metal.

Have you ever tried to search Youtube for the Porsche Carrera GT’s exhaust sound? We can confirm it’s not all that easy - despite the glorious soundtrack of the stock thing, one too many owners have rushed to fit aftermarket exhaust and, of course, record the results and upload them.

Well, this might just be the best clip for spreading the Carrera GT’s aural doctrine into the world. Yes, we know the action takes place back in 2009, but it’s all worth it.

The footage brings us a Carrera GT that’s being properly driven in on wet Belgian roads. It all starts with a series of braking downshifts that bring Porsche’s motorsports blue blood to mind.

When it comes to the acceleration sound, we get to listen the the 8,000 rpm 5.7-liter unit screaming through the gears up to 4th. While we can't see the action taking place inside the car, we're pretty sure both the pedal dance and the wooden gear knob tricks would make Walter Rohrl proud. Of course, in order for that to happen, the playground should be a track, not the public road used here...

Oh and did we mention everything happens... sideways? This driver offers us the aforementioned spectacle while drifting the Porsche in display of superb balance.
