Porsche Canada Launches Winter Campaign

OK, we know it's not winter yet, and so does Porsche, but you know, prior preparation prevents poor performance (or something...) And since Canada is perhaps closest to winter than many other regions, the German manufacturer announced the launch of the Winter Sports microsite, which hides a well planned marketing campaign. It's goal? Let all know Porsches CAN be driven in winter, too.

"While visiting Porsche dealers around Canada, I was amazed to hear how many owners put their Porsches away for the winter," Joe Lawrence, Porsche Canada CEO said in a release. "There is no rule against driving a Porsche in the winter!"

Although fully aware of the fact that Porsche is, after all, just a car and can be driven in winter, we can't help but agree with those idling their Cayman or 911 for the duration of the snowy season.

First, Porsches don't look good with snow chains. Second, whereas I, the Porsche driver can handle a little ice, I'm not sure you, the Toyota pick-up driver, can. So no, Porsche is NOT just a car, it costs a hell of a lot of money, and I'd hate to see a piece of your Toyota stuck in it!

Anyway, Porsche will try to convince you to take the car out in the snow, by offering several specially designed winter parts and accessories, such as winter wheel and tire sets. Winter-related Porsche Tequipment and Porsche Design Driver's Selection gadgets and clothes will also be provided.

"We want to change the perception in the minds of prospects who may believe a Porsche would be impractical during a Canadian winter; the value proposition improves when they realize a Porsche can be driven year round," Lawrence added.

Well, good luck to those who chose to take the Boxster for an ice spin! See you in spring...
