Porsche is the most motorsport-addicted carmaker in the world, making a religion out of implementing racing solutions for road use, so a piece of news that tells us the company has bought the famous Nardo test track in Italy doesn’t quite surprise us.
In fact, the Germans bought a 12.5 km (7.8 miles) oval track, a 6.2 km (3.9 miles) handling course, various areas for testing suspension and weather conditions, with the entire space occupying over 700 hectares.
The track is placed in a mild Mediterranean climate, which means it can be used 24/7 throughout the year. In fact, Porsche explained that it wants to upgrade the various testing facilities at Nardo and will also allow its customers to use them.
“With its rich array of facilities, from dynamic surfaces to acoustic and off-road sections coupled with the numerous workshops, our clients can continue to make extensive use of Nardò for their vehicle trials in the future as well,” said Malte Radmann, CEO of Porsche Engineering.
