We're not sure whether Cars and Coffee events have gotten more dangerous or the smartphone revolution simply allows us to take better notice of the incidents that take place during such gatherings, but we know one thing - if you happen to attend such a meet, make sure to take all the necessary steps towards staying safe.
The latest example of a C&C meet that ended dramatically comes from the past weekend and no, it wasn't one of the usual accidents that see Mustang drivers losing control.

Instead, a man behind the wheel of a Porsche Boxster Spyder was the one who plowed into the spectators, with the consequences being extremely serious. To be more precise, the various reports talking about the accident mention that at least eleven spectators have been injured in the accident. The reports also talk about five people having been taken to the hospital on the spot.

As you'll be able to notice in the piece of footage at the bottom of the page, the limited edition Zuffenhausen sportscar got sideways while appearing to leave the show, jumping over the curn and hitting those who were enjoying the show from the side.

The driver has reportedly been cooperative, with the Idaho Police currently working to sort out the matter.

Now, since we know the Boxster Spyder is a wonderfully balanced machine, with its mid-engined layout, it seems pretty obvious that the driver was aiming to show off.

Of course, the state of the rear tires is also a key factor here, but we're not aware of the rubber's condition - keep in mind that the aging tires were a key factor in the Porsche Carrera GT crash that killed Paul Walker and Roger Rodas back in 2013. Sure, this can't be the case with the rubber on this Boxster, but excessive tire wear can also lead to losing the rear end unexpectedly.

The bottom line is that drivers attending Cars and Coffee events should do the right thing in order not to ruin the fun for everybody.
