Porsche has just announced that it has recorded its best ever year, in terms of sales, in the United States - the previous record was set in 2007, when they managed to shift 34,693 units. The premium German automaker managed to sell an impressive 35,043 cars in 2012, which represents a 21% increase over their 2011 figures.
As expected, the best-selling model was the Cayenne SUV, which accounted for 15,545 of the entire sales figure - this represents a 20% increase over 2011. The new 911 Carrera and Carrera S also fared well, and managed to find 8,528 new owners. This year, if the market stays as strong as it has been in 2012, Porsche expects to break the newly-set record, through the introduction of new models.

According to Porsche Cars North America CEO, Detlev von Platen, “2012 was truly a momentous year for Porsche in the U.S. Not only did we launch the all-new, seventh-generation 911, the completely redesigned Boxster and our first diesel model, we set records in nearly all aspects of our business, achieving top-tier results in many high-ranking industry quality and customer satisfaction studies while growing our share in the luxury market.
