Any crash hurts and the fact that we expect the Nurburgring to live up to its Green Hell status by claiming a supercar from time to time doesn't take away any of the pain we get when the accidents take place.
However, when a machine as sharp as a Porsche 911 GT3 RS gets to meet the protection element on the side of the 'Ring by accident, this is the kind of event that can give an aficionado a bad day.

The piece of footage at the bottom of the page brings us such an unfortunate GT3 RS crash and we're dealing with a 997-generation Neunelfer here.

Sure, this crash could've ended much worse, but don't make the mistake of expecting the damage on the track-savvy Porsche 911 to be minor just because the car keeps rolling after the impact.

While we can't see the results of the crash in detail, we're expecting this to be the type of accident that gifts the 997 with a feature that debuted on the 991, namely the rear-wheel steering - here's an example (involving a twin-turbo Lamborghini) of what we mean.

Due to various aspects such as elevation changes and weather influencing different parts of the track in specific ways, lapping the Nordschleife is a process that requires the kind of training and preparation climbers go through before attempting to conquer a peak.

For instance, when Koenigsegg said it would once again attempt to grab the production car record this year with the One:1, the first thing the company did was to admit they need a driver who knows the 'Ring like the back of their hand. As expected, Robert Serwanski, Angelholm's own test driver, will assist the newcomer in his adventure.

Returning to the Porsche matter we're here for, here's to hoping this Zuffenahusen special gets the servicing attention it deserves and returns to the tarmac soon.
