Porsche 918 Spyder Races 911 Turbo Heading to Vegas

Why would anybody want to race a Porsche 918 Spyder against a 911 Turbo S? Sure, the on-paper answer to that question is nonsense, but in the real world people will always be people.

As the video below shows, a rolling drag race between these two Zuffenhausen machines does manage to bring quite some reaction for passengers on both cars. While the guy riding shotgun in the Neunelfer laughs it out together with the driver, the man in the right of the 918 starts screaming at a certain point.

In fact, the battle does make sense after all, since it gives us a pretty good idea on the real-world difference between a supercar and a hypercar. The 918 driver takes things as serious as possible and we can see a stunning gap being created between the two cars.

The only problem here is that the fight took place on public roads. To be more precise, the pair of Porsches was heading towards Vegas.

It seems the 918 Spyder has a fatal attraction towards the 911 these days - just yesterday we showed you one of these hypercars bumping into a 911 (non-Turbo though). That was a hypercar driver that didn’t take things too seriously...

Returning to the hypercar vs supercar matter, earlier this month we talked about a 918 Spyder that drag raced a Lamborghini Huracan on a wet two-mile airport runway. Since the Porsche was out of electric juice, the two were considerably closer than expected, raising more than one eyebrow.
