With Porsche having recently green-lit the Mission E, Neunelfer fans want to know more about the rear-engined coupe and an electric powertrain being put into the same sentence.
Well, here we are, giving you a mashup that sees the 911 being gifted with the front fascia of the Mission E concept car, while the wheels obviously come from 918 Spyder.

So yes, this is a mix between a car that’s in production, one that will never see the light of day in its current shape, and one whose production has ceased.

Speaking of electron juice motivating the 911, we’ll have to wait for the next generation of the car to land, a move that’s scheduled for the end of the decade, in order to see a hybrid Neunelfer.

As for an all-electric version of Zuffenhausen’s iconic machine, it’s too early to discuss that topic. Then again, with Porsche releasing commercials that salute time travelers out there, nothing is too wild these days.

Returning to the Mission E topic, Porsche has only spent two months and a half waiting to announce its production intentions, with the concept incarnation of the vehicle having debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show this fall.

The most important claim coming from the German carmaker has to do with the battery pack and the charging progress. The lithium-ion battery of the Mission E offers a range of 310 miles (500 km), at least for now. Porsche talks about an 800-volt charger that can replenish the battery to 80 percent of its capacity in a whopping 15 minutes. Customers willing to use wireless charging will be able to install induction coils into the floors of their garages.

The EV initiative will see Porsche creating 1,000 new jobs in Stuttgart, with the investment set to rise to EUR700 million ($766 million).

P.S.: Those of you who will only accept naturally aspirated 911s should purchase them while they can.
