Porsche 911 Turbo S Adds Nitrous, Takes On 918 Spyder in a Drag Race

With the Porsche 911 Turbo S already delivering a melange of stellar performance and go-fast reliability, most owners prefer to stay out of the aftermarket arena in order not to mess with this rare balance.

Well, the guy driving the 991 Turbo S in the video below doesn't fit that pattern. The man wanted his rear-engined supercar to be more special than others of its kind, so more power was necessary.

Since and ECU remap wouldn't have brought the desired results, the guy turned to the most facile power adder out there. His Neunelfer was gifted with a nitrous kit, with a visit to the drag strip being the natural step after that.

Since the 3.8 liter flat-six as well as the variable geometry turbos were kept in stock condition, a reasonable 75 shot of nitrous was the way to go.

And while the performance boost of this Porsche might be predictable, it's still nice to see it battling it out with much fiercer animals. You know, stuff like the 918 Spyder.

As those of you following the Zuffenhausen world know, the Turbo S and the 918 are already interestingly close in terms of 1,320-foot performance, so the doping of the 911 only made the race more worthy of a popcorn celebration.

To put things into perspective, we'll mention the standard Turbo S has managed to pull quarter mile runs in the 10.6-second area. As for the nitrous-fed incarnation we have here, this got extremely close to a clean 10-second run.

Do keep in mind that, when you're playing at such a level, half a second is quite an important difference.

Now, before you move on to the piece of drag strip footage below, be sure to take the owner's world record talk with a grain of salt. After all, you can't brag too much about installing a 75 shot of nitrous.
